Top 10 Films of 2014

Our Experiential team knows a thing or two about movies.  In 2014, they worked on the marketing campaigns for more than 110 theatrical releases, orchestrated over 1,000 advance screenings, and had the honor of working on 17 of this year’s Oscar-nominated films. From strong independent films to crowd-pleasing blockbusters, 2014 was an incredible year for moviegoers. Here is our third annual look at our picks for Top 10 films of the year.  Leave us a comment and tell us what films made your list! BOYHOOD Kevin Aguilar – “A groundbreaking film that is full of heart and soul. As a native Houstonian who spent his own ‘boyhood’ navigating through the tumultuous melancholy that is life, I found this film to be not only relatable, but also a true masterpiece that transcends time.”Boyhood 2014 GONE GIRL Andrea Salazar – “It kept me glued to my seat the whole entire time.” Roderick Stoker – “I was in shock the entire time. Loved the performances and have decided to read the book now. Backwards, I know, but that’s how the film affected me.”GoneGirl 2014 GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Diana Allen – “So funny and not what I expected at all.  One of my favorite Marvel films.” Michelle Langston – “Not only a crowd-pleasing blockbuster, this is also rock solid filmmaking from an incredibly likeable director and cast. This unlikely hit about an intergalactic group of misfits delivers on all the elements necessary to transform a movie into an iconic film classic.”Guardians of the Galaxy 2014 THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL Stefannie Garcia – “A beautiful film to watch, and the mystery was fun too!”Grand Budapest Hotel 2014 THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY Jessica Martinez – “I love movies and Helen Mirren and food, so a movie with Helen Mirren, about food, gets all A’s in my book.”The Hundred-Foot Journey 2014 INTERSTELLAR Arthur Antonio – “Imagination blown!” Jason Price – “Because of Nolan’s grand vision. And because, ‘We used to look up at the sky and wonder at our place in the stars, now we just look down and worry about our place in the dirt.’”Interstellar 2014 THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING Sally Smolenski – “I knew the name Stephen Hawking, but not much about him. Eddie Redmayne’s brilliant performance is one of the best I’ve seen.” Marissa Schmitt – “I was expecting more of a physics-based film since it was about Stephen Hawking, but I loved that it was more about his relationship with his wife.”The Theory of Everything 2014 UNBROKEN Melissa Slattery – “Since my grandparents met during WWII (my grandmother was Japanese & my grandfather a Pearl Harbor survivor), it was very emotional for me to watch this film. Truly inspirational.”Unbroken 2014 WHIPLASH Kelly Gallagher – “Because of Miles Teller.”Whiplash 2014WILD Ashton Thomas – “I loved how this story was rough around the edges but at the core, it was a really sweet story of a mother and daughter’s love for one another.”Wild 2014
